The Life and Legacy of Sr. Joan Roach

The Ursulines of Brown County invite you to pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Joan Roach. Sister Joan died peacefully at Mount Notre Dame Health Center on December 24, 2021. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later time. Please join us in remembering her life and legacy as an Ursuline Sister.



Sr. Joan Roach began her ministry as educator at St. Louis School in Owensville, Ohio and Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati. She then traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to teach at Pius High School as well as the University of Pittsburgh. Later, her adventures included ministering in Human Service Programs and creating a Guardianship Program for Allegheny County in Pennsylvania. In addition, Sr. Joan’s involvement with issues of elder abuse and pre-school programs for children of working mothers became focal points with those living in the local area. Sr. Joan became involved in Pastoral Care and the Ethics Committee at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta and Allegheny General Hospital in Pennsylvania. Returning to Cincinnati, she engaged in pastoral ministry at St. James Parish in White Oak. She was also involved with Pro-Seniors of Hamilton County and worked to combat Human Trafficking on the 75 and 71 Interstate corridors.
